MAM Montclair Art Museum

The Montclair Art Museum has long been committed to engaging a diverse community through its collection of American and Native American art. MAM embraces this pioneering spirit to celebrate the characteristics that make us unique. Whether through its significant Native American art collection or launch of its Contemporary Art Program, the presentation of high quality art, galleries, and exhibits earns the museum a notable international reputation amongst mid-sized, regional art museums.

The Yard School of Art provides artists of all ages the opportunity to brush up on an old skill or master a completely new one. Programs run in four semesters and are located in the museums professional studios. This award-winning school allows students to release their inner creativity with the guidance of experienced teaching artists.

If you’re hungry for art yet don’t want to commit to a class, check out the MAM Art Truck! The mobile studio fostered inside of a recycled ice cream truck shares visibility, projects, and visibility to the local community. Over 20 towns have already been visited by the Art Truck and fed a healthy serving of creativity and inspiration by local artists.

Don’t miss the Rand Gallery of Native American art, featuring more than forty pieces of Pueblo Indian pottery from the southwestern United States and 69 Native American baskets collected during the Victorian era. This beautiful installation depicts the evolution of Pueblo ceramic traditions. Bring your loved ones and share in this ancient art of community and heritage.

Eric Carle, beloved children’s author most recognized for The Very Hungry Caterpillar, will have an exhibit opening at the Montclair Art Museum this September. Witness Carle’s legendary love of nature, animals, and friendship through over 60 original collages, studies, and book mock-ups. This is a must-see for families and all those young at heart.
