Nutley Business Highlight: 100 Years of Community Leadership

That’s why we want to highlight the incredible work done by The Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB). Various NJ social services provide some people a level of hope they never thought possible.

 

For over 100 years, the NFSB has given our community hope through various kinds of counseling and social services. We know life can be difficult but addressing your needs and seeking help is always the best option. Whether someone is suffering from mental illness or wants marriage counseling, the NFSB is always there to help.

About the NFSB

NFSB began in 1913 with a group of strong women who recognized the need for social services in Nutley. Since then, the agency has made it their mission to enforce community outreach during hectic times. At first, the NFSB helped Nutley residents living in poverty. Through the Great Depression and both World Wars, the NFSB provided food and shelter for as many people as they could. After government programs improved, the NFSB decided they would have more of an impact providing counseling and social services to individuals and families in need.

 

The NFSB helps people from every background. As a successful non-profit, NFSB offers their services at an afford rate. The services that help bind our strong community together range from empowering young people to family therapy sessions. The core of NFSB’s treatment is based on the belief that those in need benefit from lifelong growth and insight.

Services and Events

The NFSB offers unique programs making them true innovators and leaders in Nutley. In various workshops, young children build their social skills, teenage boys practice leadership, girls raise consciousness through wellness and yoga practices, and adults transform and become grateful through meditation routines.

 

If anyone is struggling with mental health issues and is seeking a community within Nutley where they can share their experiences and learn ways to cope, the NFSB features regularly planned programs that meet twice a month. These support groups touch on anger management, caregiver support, music therapy, couple meditations, men’s and women’s groups, and family members of deployed soldiers. The NFSB tries their best to aid people through life’s most difficult obstacles, no matter what they are.

 

The town of Nutley also greatly benefits from public events curated by the NFSB. June 22 will mark the second year of the Rock Hunger benefit concert, which raises money for the NFSB Food Pantry. They also host other events like garden tours, food drives, town walks, clothing swaps and more. Don’t be afraid to get involved! Nutley truly wouldn’t be Nutley without the NFSB.
