1. Hi Helen, please tell us a bit about yourself.

I live with my husband Duy Dao and my two young sons, Lucas (6) and Michael(9) in Belleville. I am also a grandmother of a two-year-old, Jaiden, who lives with my daughter, Catherine and his dad in North Carolina. I am originally from El Salvador, Central America. I graduated from New Jersey City University with a Master in Healthcare Administration. I am a person with a deep passion and desire to help other people in a way that they need it.

2. Can you give us a brief intro to MariaPaz Home Care? And tell us what you do there?

Maria-Paz-Home-Care

MariaPaz was founded as a promise to my grandmother, Maria de la Paz, that I was going to try my best to care for people with the same love, respect, dignity, and compassion that cared for her when she needed me. MariaPaz is not just another home care agency, it is more than that. It is a place where we nurture and foster compassionate, dedicated, and trustworthy home care aides, so they can go to the community and serve people who are in need of not just someone to provide personal care or daily living skills assistance, also to give love, caring, and happiness to these individuals. MariaPaz Home Care is committed to giving care with kindness and compassion, and treating each person with dignity and respect.

We care for your loved ones the same way we want ours to be cared for.
I am the founder and president of MariaPaz Home Care, but I work for my staff and our families.

3. How is MariaPaz Home Care involve in the community? What do you bring to the locals?

We decided that we wanted to really be part of the community and be a resource to families. We conduct free seminars on different topics, such as long-term care insurance, chronic conditions such as diabetes, we offer free literature and information about developmental disabilities (we have a small library of resources)
We are members of the Nutley Chamber of Commerce and participate in community activities such as sponsoring the 5K Run, Santa, etc.

4. Do you have an inspiring story about any family you help with?

Yes, we have many of them…we have been very fortunate that the families we work with or have worked with, have a very positive experience with our home care aides and our office staff. Each family is unique and special, even those that were with us for a short time.

5. What does Nutley mean to you? What do you want to say to people of the town?

Nutley is a great town, I am so happy to have open MariaPaz in this town. I have been involved with Nutley for about 9 years, when I first became involved with NCoC (Nutley Chamber of Commerce) after starting my first business, a healthcare consulting firm. So in a sense, I am not new to Nutley, my family and I use many of the Nutley business services, such as Kumon, I get my nails done in town…and shop in Nutley as well! Nutley is a very closed community, I like that, I have gotten to know many families and business owners.
I want to thank all the Nutley families that have allowed us to become part of their family by caring for their loved one. We are very thankful for trusting us and hope that other families will get to know us and we are eager to get to know them. We are part of the community and our doors are open for any questions, for free seminars, and for free resources, or if just want to stop by and say hello!
