Nutley Kia sponsored Rob Roberts Scholarship Golf Outing

The Glen Ridge Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 58 held the second Charles “Rob” Roberts Scholarship Golf Outing in May, with all proceeds going to scholarships for Glen Ridge High School graduating seniors. Due to the overwhelming community support surrounding this event, three separate rounds of golf were offered over two days to allow for all interested parties to participate and support this wonderful cause. Nutley Kia was again the Hole in One Sponsor for each round, which took place at the Glen Ridge Country Club.

The scholarships are named in honor of Glen Ridge law enforcement officer Charles “Rob” Roberts, who passed away from COVID-related complications in May 2020. Nutley Kia Owners, Anne and Jim Russomano, raised their four children in Glen Ridge over 19 years and the entire family was touched by Officer Roberts throughout grade, middle and high school.

Family and friends of this fallen officer gathered to celebrate Officer Roberts’s fundamental values which were togetherness, gratitude, and generosity. Over two hundred golfers hit the course for the 2nd year in a row. The event was not just in commemoration celebrating local high school seniors; but it was held to empower the futures of Glen Ridge’s next generation of law enforcers, nurses, etc.

Officer Roberts was a respected and valued member of his community, as he participated in events like reading to children, organizing fundraisers, and working to raise awareness for men’s health issues. Nutley Kia is honored to have a hand in this event, as they are working to keep lively the traditions and contributions that Officer Roberts embodied. There are hopes that moving forward, the annual event will continue to grow so the Glen Ridge and surrounding communities will be able to come together to honor Officer Roberts.

Meanwhile, organizations like Nutley Kia may continue to leave a positive impact as they help to grant scholarships and fund future events. The outing is a fantastic tool to honor our fallen officers while also coming together to celebrate the amazing work that Glen Ridge has done to remain strong and intact through these hardships. It is incredibly difficult to experience loss, but when communities respond in ways that Glen Ridge did, the world becomes a better place. Thereby reinforcing what a fantastic success this outing was. The only way to honor someone who had an extremely positive impact on the people around them is to continue their work. Many lives were touched at this golf outing; people laughed, they cried, they mourned, and they celebrated. There is no doubt that the members of the Glen Ridge community are working tirelessly with Nutley Kia and other organizations to uphold this legacy. May their work continue.
