kia questions answered by korean car expert
How much do you think you know about Korean car, especially Kia? We’ve invited the expert – Erick – from The Korean Car Blog to debunk some myths of Kia cars and bring us some new insights on how to choose a vehicle. Learn more from him now.

1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? What you do on The Korean Car Blog?

My name is Erick Uceda and i was born in Lima, Peru but currently I reside in Dallas, Texas. I’m married to a lovely Peruvian girl and have a 13 months old daughter. In the mornings i work for an accountant and my second job is The KCB where i write articles for the blog with news, spyshots and, best part, traveling to test drive new models. Also I’m in charge of our social media accounts.

2. Why did you found this blog? Why Korean cars? What is your vision of this blog?

The KCB was created by my friend Jose Antonio Lopez and I. We meet at a Kia car forum sharing our knowledge of how to modify/personalize a Kia. Since then we became good friends and kept good communication between each other (even with the 7 hours difference, he lives in Spain) and with the time we felt the car forums was not enough and recognize there was a lack of news content exclusively for Kia and Hyundai and we saw the opportunity, and in 2011 we created The Korean Car Blog.
Our vision is not only become the number 1 Kia and Hyundai news source but also unify the car enthusiast and communities.

3. What are the top 3 advantages of Kia? Please elaborate them.

A lot of people will say, they are cheap, but we don’t feel that’s an advantage even though they are inexpensive. Kia had a stigma with quality control back in the days and even some customers still think the same way. With that said, the first advantage will be, built quality. Their newer models are becoming more safe than before not only by making high strength steel, and this something people might not know but Hyundai Motor Group makes their own steel not only for cars but also for construction, and also by adding more safety features technology. They have the IIHS and Europe to back them up, newer cars are becoming more stronger with their new chassis.
The second will be Accessories and new features. The brand has been able to equip their new models with new safety features as standard, something the competition don’t have or can’t afford to add and features like cooling/heating seats for driver as well passengers, Android Auto and Apple car are some of them.
And third, will have to be technology. There is a lot new technology most luxury brands have on their cars and Kia is making sure you can have them.

4. Which Kia cars do you think are the best for people living in cities and countryside? Why?

For city I would recommend the Forte. It’s a nice sedan were a small size family can fit without a problem and there is plenty of room on the trunk, also it’s good on gas and powerful enough to get you through traffic, and it’s small enough to park in those tight spots in the city.

For countryside, I would recommend the Sportage. It’s the best crossover you can find with good mpg and powerful enough to drive off road with the advantage of AWD option. There is more room than the Forte so if you trying to fit the family there it will be great or if you need room for carrying large items.

5. Which Kia car do you expect the most in 2016?

KIA Cadenza SedanThe new K7/Cadenza was the one, because it sets a new standard for their luxury lineup but since Kia recently launch the K7 in Korea and I’m eager to see what they plan for the K900. Hopefully more towards the concept model, Kia GT.

6. Anything else you’d like to share with us?

I would like to thank you for the interview and we hope any new and current customers can see all the benefits they will get by getting a Kia. And if any new or current customer would like to have more knowledge and participate and with other Kia car enthusiast in their town, let us know we will gladly help them out.
