Who you are and what Nutley Citizens Community does

My name is Pennie Landry. I am a Nutley Citizens Advocate, Nutley Homeowner, Louisiana Native, Concerned Taxpayer, Founder of Nutley Citizens Community on Facebook, and Founder of Eyes on Nutley Youtube Channel. I research current and historical news articles and events that provide readers with insight into the culture of Nutley. I also attend and film most Board of Commissioners meetings and Planning & Zoning board meetings when agenda items are of importance to the majority of Nutley citizens. For example, Roche Redevelopment, E. Centre St Redevelopment, Budget hearings, and more. Content is posted on Nutley Citizens Community on Facebook and the Eyes on Nutley Youtube Channel.

Nutley Citizens Community are made of Nutley citizens: homeowners, students, business owners, retirees. Our mission is to collectively create a better Township by actively gathering, sharing and interacting information that impacts our Town. Each of us is an observer, listener, participant and thinker. Nutley Citizens community wants to learn about what Nutley Citizens see, hear, do and what’s on their mind. NCC invites everyone to contribute.

When members of our community see something newsworthy, they message us or post on our Facebook timeline. Posts can be a compliments, concerns, questions, raves, rhymes, looks back in time, links, pics, or peeves… ideas, solutions or suggestions for a Township resolution — anything and everything that will help us all think about ‘what’s great about Nutley and how can it be even better’.

Township wide citizen engagement on the Nutley Citizens Community is producing results:

• 100% visibility of the things we care about and are concerned about
• Engaged, meaningful dialogue on effective solutions
• Increased awareness of all Township activities: Social, Political, School Related…
• Greater openness and accountability on the part of our Township Government
• Heightened understanding of the decision making process of our Boards and Commissions
• Increased trust and confidence in our local government
• Engaged listening, collaboration and collective weighing of the trade-offs
• Citizen influence in policy, implementation and adherence.

The Nutley Sun started its Facebook Page in 2010 and has 1,769 likes as of today. Nutley Citizens Community, which was originally called Nutley Homeowners Community, started its Facebook page in 2014 and has 1,897 Likes as of today. The post reach is anywhere between 10,000 & 20,000 ‘eyes’ a week.
