This month we’re excited to highlight one of Nutley’s most delicious hot spots. Yes, we’re talking about Philly Pretzel Factories, our own local installation of a national soft-pretzel dynasty.

A Brief History

The idea behind Philly Pretzel Factory started in 1998 in Mayfair, Philadelphia. Owner and creator, Dan Dizio aimed at baking Philly-style soft pretzels throughout the day so anyone passing could enjoy a “hot outta the oven” pretzel any time.

Within the second year of business, Dizio and his college roommate, Len Lehman’s first ever Philly Pretzel Factory store was so successful that future franchisees approached them.

Then, in 2004 Dizio began Soft Pretzel Franchise Systems, Inc. Now the Philly Pretzel brand exists across 12 states.
