You can officially see your breath when you step out the door, which means one thing: the holidays are right around the corner. Many students will be coming home for Thanksgiving looking for things to do with family and friends, why not ring in the season with some festivities?

Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony

Right in Nutley Park Oval, you can attend our own Mayor’s tree lighting ceremony. On Sunday, December 4th at 5:30 everyone will gather to watch the event take place. More information will be coming soon so make sure to keep an eye out for updates on the Township of Nutley’s website!

 

Feasting with Family and Friends Christmas in the Ballantine House

Join Newark Museum’s celebration (starting Friday, November 25th) and learn a bit about how the city celebrated in the Victorian era. This historically accurate installation is a step back in time that shows you how German, English and Dutch holiday traditions blended to become one large and exciting festival. Get a taste of Victorian Newark through Sunday, January 8th.

Pompton Lakes Annual Holiday Stroll

On Saturday December 3rd take a drive over to the Pompton Lakes Library for their tree lighting ceremony. They will be lighting up the tree at 5:00 and will follow the ceremony with a parade down Wanaque Avenue! This celebration is sure to be a fun event for the whole family!

Holiday Lights

For a unique holiday celebration, check out Holiday Lights at Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 18th-27th you can enjoy holiday lights, movies, ice sculpting demonstrations and more! To learn more about the event, check out their website. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

If you are looking for something above and beyond your average lighting ceremony, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting is where you need to be. Arguably the most famous Christmas tree in North America, there isn’t anything else like it. Get in your Kia and take a drive over to NYC for the lighting (on Wednesday, November 30th), listen to the live performance from 7-9pm and maybe even go ice skating!
