Fighting over the radio is an inevitable part of the road trip experience. However, with all of the technology available today these fights are now a little more intricate. Each Kia model is equipped with all of the parts necessary for using your phone as your personal DJ. Now you can all contribute to a playlist so that there is music for everyone! Or better yet, leave personal tastes out and have an app choose the music for you. Here are just a few of the music curation apps out there for you and your road trip buddies to choose from.
Tidal
Tidal is the first major music streaming platform that is owned by artists. It is more than just that though, they often have the exclusive rights to streaming music before it hits other platforms, as well as music videos and interviews. They boast about their lossless audio quality, which means that the quality of music is better than that of other platforms. In addition to this, you can listen offline, without ads, choose from your own or pre-generated playlists and use the “similar” section to find new music you might like. Tidal is available for a 30-day free trial so if this sounds like the best option for you go try it out now!

Spotify
One of the biggest music streaming platforms, Spotify has a large selection of music to choose from. You can pay for ad free, offline streaming that allows you to skip around and listen to that song you are obsessed with, or you can use the app for free with ads. Create playlists or choose from ones that have been previously created based on things such as genre, mood, season or even the decade. Also, if you have created your own playlist they will recommend songs to add to it. This platform is great for discovering new music and rediscovering classics.

Pandora
Choose a song, artist or category and receive a stream of music similar to your request. Pandora prides themselves on their ability to curate personalized stations for listeners to enjoy, or pre-made ones they know you will love. If you prefer skipping around and replaying songs at your pleasure, consider upgrading to their premium service where you will also get the benefit of listening without ad interruption.

SoundCloud
SoundCloud offers music that you can’t find anywhere else. Anyone can put music or audio files on the site so you can discover new and emerging artists first! There are tons of remixes available, and if you are into EDM (electronic dance music) this is the app for you. Like the other sites, you are able to create playlists. They also offer a premium option (although you can listen for free too) called SoundCloud Go where you can listen offline, ad free and enjoy listening to an even larger catalog of music.

Apple Music
If you are a dedicated iTunes user, Apple Music may be the best option for you. Instead of paying for your music per song, pay per month. When signing up for this service it prompts you with questions about the sort of genres and artists you most enjoy listening to, sort of like Netflix for music. This is so that they can gather the music you will most enjoy listening to. From there you can listen to playlist they have complied for you or create your own. If you’re not sure about this, try it out using their free three-month trial!

YouTube Music
Your favorite video streaming site now offers an app dedicated to music streaming. With the YouTube Music app, you have the ability to choose from many non-stop stations to listen to or make playlists of your own. In addition, there are personalized music stations that learn your taste in music and recommend new songs and artists for you. Something that this service offers that others don’t are live recordings and concert footage. Like the others, they do offer a paid option, called YoutTube Red, that allows you to download pre-populated mixtapes to listen to offline, listen to music without ads as well as in the background while using other apps and with your screen closed, which the free service does not provide.

Your Kia is bound to be the car with the best music, so go plan your next road trip! There is a huge variety of music streaming services to choose from, but whichever option you go with you are guaranteed to have a great time. And if you’re not too into music try listening to a book on Audible instead!
