As a strong advocate for women’s rights, lifelong Nutley resident Linda Buset built a business out of her home and has kept up with the times through continuing education. Hear more about her story in this week’s Voices of Nutley!

Can you briefly tell us who you are, where you are from and what you do?

My name is Linda Buset and I am the owner and operator of Virtual Assist. I started this company 30 years ago under the name, All Secretarial Services.

What inspired you to start your own business and why in this field specifically?

As a young girl, I worked for Nutley’s Herald Publications owned by Frank Orechio from the age of 16 through 27. Working for Orechio gave me the confidence to always reach for my dreams and never give up.

I left Herald Publications to start a family, but I still wanted to work from home. That is when All Secretarial Services was formed. A Virtual Assisting service. All Secretarial Services, now known as Virtual Assist, serves clients in the NJ area, primarily small and home businesses.

How long have you lived in North Jersey?

I’m a lifelong resident of Nutley with 4 generation living in town. The youngest family member in town is 5 years old, and the oldest is 96.

How do you like Nutley and how do you like being a business owner here?

I love Nutley, I was raised here. My true passion has always been Marketing and Public Relations, so with Virtual Assist I can help my fellow community members and local entrepreneurs.

I’m a member of: Nutley Women’s Networking Group (nwng) The Nutley League of Women Voters, The Nutley Chamber of Commerce as an appointed Board Member, The Nutley Historical Society, and the Nutley Municipal Alliance. Additionally, I’m in charge of publicity and social media for 5 separate organizations.
