Looking for a way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? We’ve got you covered! Here are some family-friendly activities that are sure to bring out your Irish pride!
The Parades
If you’re into the parade scene, you’ve got several options this weekend. On Friday you can head over to the Prudential Center for the Newark Parade beginning promptly at 1:00 pm. Saturday there’s the Sussex County Parade in Newton at 11:30 am or Bayonne’s parade on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Bayonne is also hosting a St. Patrick’s Day kick-off event to benefit BEOF (Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation) on March 16 at 6:00 pm. The event will feature The Screaming Orphans, an authentic Irish band, as well as food and beverages. Whichever parade you end up going to you are sure to have a great time!

St. Patrick’s Day Festival
The Laurita Winery in New Egypt is hosting their St. Patrick’s Day Festival on March 18 and 19. With Irish music, traditional Irish foods and of course delicious wine, the festival is the place to be this weekend!

Irish Night
Honor your Irish heritage on March 25 by listening to live music and watching step dancers perform. Three different bands will be performing at the event: The River’s Driver’s “Irish” Band, the Church Street Revival and Martin Kavanaugh and the Hard Road Travelers. There will be about fifteen dancers from the Devrin Academy at the Albert Music Hall that will make the show even more fun! The doors open at 6:00pm and the event starts at 7:30pm.
St. Patrick’s Day Skate
If your kids have been begging you to go roller skating recently, Friday night (the 17th) is the time to go. The Branch Brook Park Roller Skating Center in Newark is celebrating the holiday with a St. Patrick’s Day Skate Party! With admission for everyone only being $1.00 and skate rental $4.00 is a great activity to do on a budget. Don’t forget to come dressed in your favorite green outfit!
Cook up Culture
Young Chefs Academy in Morganville is hosting a cooking class on March 17 from 6:30-8:30 pm for children that will feature a menu of Irish foods. Each child must be accompanied by an adult, so grab your kids and maybe come away with a new dinner staple! Be sure to make your reservation ahead of time if you are interested.
